Delhi Capitals’ Prithvi Shaw Confident of Regaining Fitness for IPL 2019
116India’s upcoming batting talent Prithvi Shaw expects to be fit ahead of the Indian Premier League in March. Shaw has been retained by the Delhi Capitals as they look to bank upon young guns in the IPL 2019.
Talking to India TV, Prithvi said he is confident that his fitness will be perfect before the IPL 2019.
“I am trying very hard to reach the level of full fitness before the Indian Premier League takes place with my ankle and upper part of body ready for the game,” Prithvi told to India TV.
The 19-year-old right-hander got an injury in his ankle while attempting a catch against Australia XI in December. Having stayed on with the team hoping to be fit for the second Test match in Perth, he was eventually ruled out of the series and sent back home for an extensive rehabilitation program.

Shaw was expected to be one of the openers, but it was Murali Vijay and KL Rahul who opened the batting in the first two games before Mayank Agarwal came in with Hanuma Vihari in Melbourne.
Shaw affirmed that he was very disappointed with the injury and hence missing the chance to play on the Australian soil but was thankful for the team management for their full support. He also expressed his joy on the Indian team’s win over the Australians.
Shaw has recently created a record by becoming the youngest Indian batsman to hit a ton on his test debut. He has got an outstanding average of 118.5 in his first two Tests, and also got a fifty as well in the warm-up match against the Aussies on Australian soil.
The right-hander broke Abbas Ali Baig’s record by scoring a ton at the age of 18 in Rajkot against West Indies. Prithvi Shaw is recuperating from his injury at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
During the 2018 season, Delhi Capitals (then Daredevils) finished at the bottom of the IPL Points Table. They could only manage five wins from their 14 group matches. With Shaw likely to regain full fitness, they will be hoping for a significant performance from their young stalwart in order to turn their fortunes around in the upcoming edition.
