After Knowing This, I’ll Never Look at Tea or Coffee the Same Way Again

After Knowing This, I’ll Never Look at Tea or Coffee the Same Way Again

I have a piece of disgusting news to share with you all!

To be honest, I didn’t want to play the curmudgeon, especially when the festive season is about to start in the next 15–20 days. But I came to know about this only yesterday — and it completely pulled the rug out from under my feet.

I rarely comment on food or eating habits, but that doesn’t mean science stops its research. Thanks to the internet and countless knowledge sources, we often come across news that demands attention with just a single click.

Coming to the present context — I was randomly scrolling through Instagram reels when I stumbled upon something I can’t unsee. To jog your memory a little, a few months ago, actress Shenaz Treasurywala’s vlog was the first to make me realise that the delicious figs we eat as morning protein or evening snacks actually contain traces of a bug!

After doing a bit of research, I learned that, regardless of the type of fig, its maturity isn’t possible without the sacrifice of that insect. I won’t go into the details since the topic had already drawn massive attention and became the talk of the town. If you’re curious, just search “fig and how it is grown” on the internet — and voilà, the truth will be right there on your screen.

The Shock and Cup

But yesterday, I was flabbergasted to discover that every cup of coffee or tea we drink also contains traces of insects — including roaches and other bugs! For a moment, I felt like puking. Then I realised you can’t brush aside everything under the garb of “ignorance is bliss.” Reality is reality — whether it makes you feel comfortable or not.

So, all the vegans out there — the next time you tell someone not to eat fish, goat, chicken, or eggs, remember this: every time you sip coffee, packaged fruit juice, or your morning cup of tea, you’re likely consuming tiny amounts of insect parts too!

Now, I’m not going into the endless debate about what’s right or wrong — whether being vegan or non-vegan is better. But one thing’s for sure: nothing is completely pristine when it comes to tea or coffee. I’m still reeling from the shock and wondering how this fact stayed hidden from me for the last 10–15 years!

What Should We Do?

I may not be a coffee lover or tea addict, but I drink both moderately. And tea, of course, is the staple drink to shake off morning slumber.

I have nothing more to say!

*Shun figs → They contain traces of bugs.

*Stop drinking tea → It contains traces of cockroaches.

*Stop drinking coffee → It also contains traces of cockroaches.

*Avoid Kopi Luwak → This coffee (famous in Indonesia) is made from civet cat poop.

Now, the question arises — what should we do? How can we get fresh coffee beans, tea leaves, or figs without all this contamination?

In Conclusion

Since the news about figs went viral, I stopped eating them a long time ago. But after learning this harsh “insect reality” about tea and coffee, I’m in a real dilemma. Should I continue with my morning cup of tea or quit tea and coffee altogether?

What are your thoughts on this? If you think this is just clickbait or a case of yellow journalism, maybe it’s time to rethink that. Not everything you see on TV or social media is false — sometimes, they do reveal the truth.

What I’m sharing here is 100% true — even America’s FDA has confirmed it!
