Somehow, the state was lost its complete political identity in 1568 after the last king of the state, Mukunda Dev was defeated and died.

So a politically separate state was formed eventually, under British rule on a linguistic basis on 1 April 1936.

This year it marks the 83rd anniversary of the Utkal Dibasa or the foundation day of #Odisha.
