Watching Awarapan 2’s First Song Made Me Realize How Much Life Has Changed | Awarapan Is a Time Machine to My Past
Recently, the Awarapan 2 trailer and its first song were released, and I couldn’t hold my excitement anymore. Yes, I was a huge fan of Awarapan. Be it Emraan Hashmi, Shriya Saran, Ashutosh Rana, or Mrinalini Sharma, each of them was my favorite, and they still are.
The only difference is that I hadn’t watched the movie when it was released. I actually watched it 10 years later. You might be wondering why. Well… you know… in those days, we had a single television set at home, and I wasn’t allowed to watch most Emraan Hashmi movies because I was the youngest, even though I was already above 18.
Then there was another reason. I got myself so entangled with Emraan Hashmi’s songs, which coincidentally were chartbusters too, that I never really made the effort to watch his films. Also, you know Indian households. Watching Emraan Hashmi films with my family members was something that was unsettling for me, thanks to the rumors, the hype, and those scenes… you know what I mean.
So I never found the courage to watch them at home. There was no separate room for me. No individual television set. In fact, going to the theatre never struck a chord with me either, as I hate loud sounds and small spaces. You might ask me if I am claustrophobic. Well, I don’t know, but I love larger spaces where I can move here and there freely without worrying about suffocation or congestion.
Awarapan 2: Life Came Full Circle
That is why, as I was watching Awarapan 2‘s first song, I realized that life had come full circle. I went from avoiding Emraan Hashmi movies because they were once considered adult films… while today, incognito mode on the internet has gone far beyond all of that… hope you are getting what I mean… to proudly calling myself an Emraan Hashmi fan.
Not just a general fan, but you can call me a huge fan. I have now watched almost 90% of all his movies. Yeah, I still haven’t watched Murder, Gangster, The Dirty Picture, and a few others. But if you check his post-2016 films, I have seen most of them, with Hamari Adhuri Kahaani still topping the chart as my favorite Emraan Hashmi film.
Among all his films, I think some movies have etched themselves into my memory like a time loop. They worked like a portal that connected me to those bygone days when I was a little younger, my parents were younger, my siblings and I were in school and college, and we literally had no idea what life had in store for us.
Awarapan: More Than Just Movies
Thankfully, the memories of those days make me nostalgic and happy. But more than that, Emraan Hashmi’s movies made me realize how the person you see on screen and the person you see in real life can be in complete contrast to each other.
Emraan Hashmi, as a person, deserves all the credit for carrying himself with so much dignity and grace off-screen. You rarely see him at parties. You don’t see him creating unnecessary controversies. Nor do you see his co-stars casting any aspersions on his behavior or demeanor. All these traits made him my favorite Bollywood actor and someone I truly admire, just like many of you.
Conclusion
Do let me know your favorite Awarapan memory and what you were doing during those days. Do Awarapan‘s songs make you feel relaxed, calm, or a bit excited? Or do they simply take you back to your ex or the time that you spent together?
