Puthandu, (Tamil: தமிழ்புத்தாண்டு), is a very famous Tamil festival, which is mainly, observe and celebrate in the Tamil Nadu. The festival, Puthandu, is also known as Puthuvarusham or Tamil New Year.
This one is regarded as the first day of the year on the Tamil calendar. Puthandu is a kind of the famous and crucial, festivity, which is set its date with the solar cycle of the Hindu calendar, according to the first day of the Tamil month of Chithirai.
We all celebrate the carnival, Puthandu, on predominately, in the month of April. This year in 2019, we will celebrate, #Puthandu, on Sunday, 14 April, according to the Gregorian calendar.

Puthandu, is basically, the Tamil New Year, and this one is celebrate, by all Hindu, in this whole India, though, the occasion, #Puthandu, is having different names, in the different regions, across, the nation, such as, it is known as “Poila Boishakh”, in the West Bengal, and “Vishu” in Kerala, and Vaisakhi or Baisakhi in central and northern India.
So on this day, #Puthandu, all Tamil people wishes each other and greet each other by saying, “Puttāṇṭu vāḻttukkaḷ!” (புத்தாண்டு வாழ்த்துக்கள்) or “Iṉiya puttāṇṭu nalvāḻttukkaḷ!” (இனிய புத்தாண்டு நல்வாழ்த்துக்கள்), as per the Wikipedia, which is means that, “Happy new year”.]
On the festival of the #Puthandu, it turns to be family time, when we have some quality time, with our friends and family, on this day, we all clean our home, as well as, decorate the same.
All women and ladies and young girls, in the different houses, arrange and prepare a plate or a tray, in which they arrange, some fruits, flowers, and auspicious items, light up the family Puja, also visit temples, in order to seek blessings from the Lord.
