Ms Emma Martina Luigia Morano of Vercelli, Italy celebrates her 117th birthday on yesterday with massive media attention, the world oldest lady Emma Morano born on 29th November 1899.
Guinness World Records already confirmed Emma as the ‘Oldest person living’ of the world in the month of May this year, after reviewing research conducted by the Gerontology Research Group.
She is believed to be the last person living who blessed to born in the era of 19th century. This year also Ms Morano celebrates 117th birthday in her home, in this flat where she is living for many years to receive 24-hour care.
Speaking of Emma’s achievement, Marco Frigatti, Head of Records for GWR, said to media that, “The oldest living person record category continues to capture the world’s collective imagination. Ms Morano has experienced things first hand that will soon be consigned to memory, and the record books. She can teach us all a lesson of the value of a life well lived”.
Raised in Vercelli – the oldest of eight siblings – Emma eventually moved to Verbania on the shores of Lake Maggiore, Italy where she spent her entire rest of the life.
Emma followed some extraordinary diet for around 90 years – three eggs per day (two raws, one cooked) and fresh Italian pasta.
However, nowadays she just having a diet of 2 eggs and few biscuits. Emma Morano was engaged to a man who was gradually going somewhere during the First World War, shattered Emma Morano never saw him again and assumed that her husband has died.
Later Emma Morano goes for a second marriage in 1926 and later gave birth to a child who tragically passed when the child was only 6 months.
This marriage was abusive. Emma told the media on 2011 that her husband had blackmailed her into getting married as well as he warned her to be killed.
Following the terrible loss of her son in 1938, she took the brave decision to leave her husband as well she never go for remarriage. Emma’s incredible story of courage and longevity once inspired to display of a musical show held in her hometown Verbania, Italy.
Emma Morano is five years younger than the oldest person ever, Jeanne Louise Calment, who blessed to the celebrated 121st birthday of her life.
While, the oldest person living male person is Holocaust Israel Kristal, who celebrated his 113th birthday in the month of September.
