Peru has ended the World Cup dreams of New Zealand and the final berth is claimed Peru for Russia next year with a 2-0 victory, this victory also bring a national holiday for the country.

“I dedicate this to Paolo, I promised him we would deliver,” Farfan said about Guerrero, who had scored six goals for Peru in the South American qualifiers.
Peru to enjoy national holiday after win
Peruvian President Pedro Paulo Kuczynski promised previously that on this week that Thursday (local time) will be a national holiday if the team qualified for the World Cup.
Midfielder Christian Cueva, who assisted Farfan in the first goal and took the corner kick to starts the leading second one, said Peru deserved the holiday promised by President Kuczynski.
“It is a wait of 35 years, we didn’t deserve to be away from the World Cup for so long,” Cueva said.
“All Peruvians should take this Thursday to celebrate as never before.”
President Kuczynski used Twitter to ask for moderation in the festivities on the holiday.
“Thanks to our warriors for giving us this joy. Let’s celebrate with responsibility,” he said.
Peru coach Ricardo Gareca paid tribute to the team’s psychologist for the victory over the All Whites.
“He was very important for us at this turbulent moment,” he said.
