This movement was started and launched by the India’s Union Minister for Agriculture, Kulapati Dr. K M Munshi in 1950. On this day of the Forest Day, people take the chance to help ourselves to remember the fineness and superiority of backwoods and trees, and to mark the implication of their inherited assets, without which trees can’t adjust or survive.
Forest Day or Van Mahotsav is very different from the International Day of Forests was established and started on the 21st March with a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly which comes on 28th November 2012.

Make easy the implementation of such events in collaboration with governments, the Collaborative Partnership on Forests, and international, regional and sub regional organizations. International Day of Forests was experiential for the first time on 21st March 2013.
Van Mahotsav or Forest Day is mainly being celebrated in the India to marks the importance of forest. Van Mahotsav is an annual tree-planting movement in India, which started in 1950. The name Van Mahotsava means “the festival of trees”.
It has increased the significant national importance and, every year, millions of saplings are planted across India in observation of Van Mahotsav week. It was started and coined by K.M. Munshi.
