As per the Kollywood tracker Ramesh Bala, TSK’s overseas premieres have grossed around Rs 73 lakh on Friday, bettering its Thursday collections with a large margin (Rs 23.3 lakh).

The movie has also taken the Chennai box office with the film collected cash of Rs 74 lakh on an opening day. Trade analysts have predicted that the films can collect Rs 7-9 crore mark in the Pongal weekend.

As positive word of mouth spreads, the collections are predicted to grow stronger over the Pongal weekend.

The first big weekend for Kollywood this year, 3 other movies are clashing at the box office because of this long weekend. Apart from Suriya’s Thaana Serndha Kootam, Vikram’s Sketch and Prabhudeva’s Gulebaghavali have hit the screens on this Friday and TSK steals the show.

This is the 35th movie of Suriya helmed by Vignesh Shivn. Apart from the Singam star and Keerthy Suresh, the movie also features Ramya Krishnan, Senthil, Karthik, Suresh Menon, Sathyan and RJ Balaji among others.

Anirudh Ravichander composed music of the film and the bankrolled is done by Studio Green’s Gnanavel Raja.

The movie is based on the Opera House heist, the same incident was explored by the Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar’s Special 26 as well.
