Muslims people across the globe mark the end of Ramadan by rejoicing the festival called Eid-al-Fitr.

Every year, Muslims across the globe observe fast from dawn to dusk during the Ramadan month. It is widely considered as the holiest festival. This year, the auspicious day of Ramadan will start on 26th May and will conclude on 24th June.

The objective of the fast is the well-being of the all and promoting happiness and peace all around. On the Ramadan period, fast begins at dawn and continued till dusk. In the interim period, devotees don’t eat or drink anything. Muslims celebrate Eid-al-Fitr, one of the most popular festivals of the Islam religion, to mark the end of Ramadan.

Fasting during Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam, and also there is the Muslim declaration of faith, daily prayer, charity, and performing the hajj pilgrimage to Mecca. The month of Ramadan is a self-exercise in restraint or control.

The reason for fasting & suitable way to break it

To break this Ramadan fast, a large feast or meal organized known as “iftar”. It includes a collection of different fruits, dried fruits, fries and some other delicious food recipes which are being shared among the family members.

In the Arab countries, the apricots juices are a staple at Ramadan iftars. Yogurt-based drinks are popular in the South Asia and Turkey.

Different traditions of the Ramadan

Muslims during Ramadan period usually meet and greet with each other saying, “Ramadan Mubarak!” and Sunni Muslims visit mosque at the night to offer prayers, the practice is known as “taraweeh”. In Egypt, lantern called “fanoos,” which is actually placed at the centre of the iftar table, sometimes it can be seen hanging in window shops and balconies during Ramadan.
