New Delhi, 27 June. On the Eve of World Cancer Day, 4 Depts. of Institute of Dental Sciences Oral Medicine and Radiology, Oral Surgery, Oral Pathology and Public Health Dentistry along with Dept of Community medicine IMS and Sum Hospital organized a Largest Community based Oral Health and Oral Cancer screening program in the state.

As part of Social inclusiveness of Siksha’O’Anusandhan 130, Drs screened 1342 patients from sixteen villages at Eight centers in a single day of which 50 were detected with Precancer.

The patients have also given Oral Health education about the ill effects of tobacco and other aetiological factors responsible for Potentially Malignant Disorders and Oral Cancer.

These patients requiring treatment will be taken to IDS Dental Hospital for free treatments like extractions, Oral prophylaxis (scaling), blood investigations, Biopsies etc and restorations with minimum charges.

Buses will ply regularly from our rural health Centre and villages on specific days to our hospital and back after treatment.

The Dental Hospital has been conducting numerous free camps in urban areas also, as well as two compulsory

Free Oral Cancer Camps at IDS Hospital with free investigations and Oral Cancer treatment at the minimum price for many years.

Free treatment for oral cancer by SOA

As many as 130 doctors from  SOS ( Deemed to be University ) conducted the largest community based oral health & oral cancer screening program in Odisha Examine 1342 person on a single day.

The Department of oral medicine & Radiology , oral surgery ,oral pathology &  public health density of the Institute of Dental Sciences (IDS) , faculty of Dental sciences of SOA  & Department of community medicine of IMS & SUM hospital conducted simontenously screening at 8 center around jamujhari  on the outskirt of capital city on the eve of world cancer day.

According to professor Neeta Mohanty Dean of IDS, 50 of the screened person had been detected with the condition which was in the pre-cancer stage requiring treatment. These patients will provide free of cost treatment which would include blood investigation & Biopsy . The people were also provided oral health education & the ill effect of tobacco &  other product responsible for potentially malignant disorder & oral cancer, prof Mohanty said.
