Let us learn something new today. Did you know that a few centuries back around 400 years back, in the regal days of Nizams in Hyderabad, Onion Kheer (Pudding) was very popular. Somehow, with the passage of time, people have almost forgotten the art of making onion kheer.
It is in this quest, I am herewith presenting you with the very unique Onion ka Kheer or Onion Kheer or pudding. It is also one of the popular desserts in the Indian state of Goa.
Milk: 1 kg
Small Onion: 500-gram
Milk Maid: 100-gram
Sugar: 2 Cup (add sugar according to need considering the quantity of milk maid you are adding).
Cashew Nut: Half a cup (Crushed)
Raisin: Half a cup
Pistachio: Crushed (Half a cup)
Cardamom Powder: 1 teaspoon
Saffron: A little bit soaked in milk.
Cooking procedure of Onion Kheer or Pudding
Take a pan. Let the milk to boil and get condensed.
Cut all onions in tiny and equal shapes and wash thoroughly.
Keep the onions in a separate plate.
Add sugar and cardamom powder into the boiled milk with cashew nuts raisins and pistachios.
When the milk gets boiled properly – add all onions into it and stir carefully.
Once onions are boiled well, add milk maid and let it again boil for a few minutes more.
Onion Kheer Recipe: It’s Easy and Simple
When onions and milk are mixed well, switch off the gas.
Now add saffron milk (half a cup) into it.
Now, put the ‘kheer’ in a bowl and garnish it with, raisins and crushed pistachio and cashew nuts.
Serve it chilled.
