These miscreants engaged in impolite behavior with the calm and composed North Eastern female fans, who came to watch the match at the venue.

Those crazy fans should have behaved more cautiously considering the presence of women in the spectator’s seat. Instead, these hooligans engaged in all sort of verbal taunts and teases that might have hurt the sentiments of the people of the North East and other rational citizens of the country.

Now, the Chennai Police are investigating the case to look if it was a possible case of racism.

Such things are totally uncalled for, and adversely tarnish the image of the country as a whole. Football is a world famous sport and any negative news on the ground is bound to create a massive furor among the fans. This incident is similarly drawing criticisms from all corners of the world and especially from the football enthusiasts across India.

Eventually, the Minister of State, Home (MoS-home) Kiren Rijiju has assured that proper investigation into the matter will follow, and culprits will be booked to justice. He also requested the victims to connect to the City Police for further action.

Certainly, any racist act could destroy the nation’s social fabric and harmony. These behaviors must be discouraged from the very start and the Police must take strong action at the earliest.

Actor Abhishek Bachchan-owned ChennaiInFC also issued a stern statement condemning the incident. It also assured the fans that appropriate action would be taken in this regard after thorough investigation.
