Movies That Give A Realistic Look Into Romance

33Real love is hard to find, but not when it comes to movies. Being the evergreen genre that it is in Bollywood, we thought why not revisit some of the recent romantic movies that gave love stories with a touch of realism. But a prior disclaimer, we would also advise you to keep a box of tissues handy if you are planning to watch them.

Movies That Give A Realistic Look Into Romance

Manmarziyaan: This movie is loaded up with a passionate love story filled with betrayal, temptation, confusion, fidelity and much more, making it an idle choice for those looking for a break from mushy romances. Manmarziyaan is about this couple (played by Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal) who gets pressurised to get married from the girl’s family. However, when push comes to shove, the boyfriend abandons the girl, and this leads to her getting married to another guy (Abhishek Bachchan). What happens when her boyfriend comes back into her life, forms the conflict of the movie. This is one movie you should not miss out on and thanks to the internet, you can watch Manmarziyaan full movie online on ZEE5. While some found it quirky and surreal, the others went ahead and called it Kashyap’s Mouna Ragam (a classic Tamil film by Mani Ratnam – a must watch).

Tanu Weds Manu Returns: This movie answers the age-old question, is it okay to look for love when you are already married to someone? Something that is considered as a taboo in today’s time, is being depicted in the most interesting way possible. After his exceptional work in some of the best romantic movies in recent times like Raanjhanaa and Tanu Weds Manu, Aanand L. Rai once again hits all the right notes with the latter’s sequel. Apart from the spectacular performances and writing, the music composed by Krsna Solo makes this movie a proper emotional ride.

Akaash Vani: Love is very subjective, and it’s not always dreamy as most movies proclaim it to be. Bollywood has been making movies about heartbreaks for years now, but Akaash Vani depicts what happens when destiny plans to reunite the lovers when one gets stuck in a horrible marriage. Though it was Kartik Aaryan’s second movie, his acting skills showed otherwise and show a different side to him (at that point he was famous as Pyaar Ka Punchnama’s Rajjo). The chemistry between Kartik Aaryan and Nushrat Bharucha was the most eye-catching aspect of the movie.

Anjaana Anjaani: The story about how two people who want to end their life, meet and fall for each other. The treatment of its tricky premise is well-handled and brings in hope to all those who are going through a tough breakup. It was no surprise that the movie continues to be loved, just like Siddharth Anand’s previous movies like Hum Tum, Salaam Namaste and Bachna Ae Haseeno.

Kedarnath: This one film speaks to the current generation and proves that not all romantic movies need a happy ending. One of the biggest selling points of this 2018 block-buster was its two leads, Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan. The audience loved the movie so much that some even called it the Indian Version of the classic Titanic. Though the similarity is uncanny, we think Kedarnath is a star in its own right.

That is all for this list. They are some of the best that Bollywood has to offer. But are there any movies you would add to this list? What did you think of it? Let us know in the comments.
