Mercury movie cast: Anish Padmanabhan, Deepak Paramesh, Sananth Reddy, Shashank Purushotham, Nemya Nambheeshan, Prabhudheva
#Mercury movie director: Karthik Subbaraj
#Mercury movie rating: 3 Stars

This one is touted as a ‘silent’ movie, but this film is actually a theoretically noisy movie. And the noise is persistent: cymbals clash, cars crash, empty drums fall, music blares.

Wordless is more like it. The movie is taking off from the idea that corporate greed is far more dangerous than poison, where its main characters in the movie Mercury is 4 young men and a woman– hearing-and-speech impaired.

And away from this film, is the route of doing a dumb show—embellished sounds and hand gestures, their version of symbol and sign language.

Something which is catchy in the film #Mercury is it’s the camera work and the psychedelic colours of the jungle in the night: after a car chase, and a dead body, this is plenty of finding in the isolated factory (which was once the site of a gas leak, leading to death and disability) run away from a vengeful zombie, played by Prabhudheva, who is worthy enough to make you scared.

Prabhu Deva’s film pays tribute to the 1987 cult classic Tamil movie Pushpak right after the film started, and seems like the movie #Mercury did somehow justice to the Kamal Haasan’s classic thriller, though, Pushpak was a silent movie, in a way silent movie and Mercury have some voices which audiences need to hear anyway.

Karthik Subbaraj directed the silent movie which features, the man of different hats Prabhu Deva in a different kind of role and let me tell you Prabhu Deva’s performance in the movie was quite impressive also.

Regarding, doing the silent movie, the leading man Prabhu Deva said, “I’ve always been a fan of the silent era. The work of Charlie Chaplin and his contemporaries have had a very strong influence on me.

So, this idea was stuck in my mind to make a silent movie in this modern era and really this one is worth.

The experience is going to be very unique and I’m confident audiences are going to cherish this movie.
