Well, the Janmashtami, also known as ‘Krishna Janmashtami’ which is considered as one of the important festivals of Vaishnavas. The prominent Hindu festival #Janmashtami is celebrated each and every year to commemorate and rejoices the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of the Lord Vishnu.
As per the Hindu lunar calendar, Lord Krishna was born on ‘ashtami’ or the ‘eighth day’ at midnight which is the holy month of Shravana.
As well as it heads the ‘Nandotsav’ festival also called Janmashtami, which celebrates the occasion when Krishna’s foster father ‘Nanda’ distributed gifts among the people of his kingdom only to honor the Lord Krishna’s birth.
The occasion Janmashtami which is a great and massive festival illustrious popularly in Mathura (the real birthplace of Lord Krishna) and Vrindavan (where Krishna spent his childhood).
It is also observed with much fanfare which is the major sources of attraction in states like, Gujarat and Rajasthan and in the north-eastern states like Assam and Manipur. This year the festival #Janmashtami will start on 14 August.
