Govardhan Puja is one of the crucial Hindu festivals and it is celebrating day after Diwali. On 2017, the Puja falls on 20th October 20 and in this puja devotees will be offered their puja to Lord Krishna, because of the legend that he saves the villagers from a powerful and intense thunderstorm by lifting a mountain on his little finger.

Govardhan Puja is also known as Annakut Puja, on this  Puja, devotees prepare a splendid and a massive meal comprising of 56 food items called Annakut to please Krishna, on this day.

The Annakut consists of vegetables, pulses, dals, sweets, and snacks, which serves in the tiers, it is also known as the ‘Chappan Bhog’, or 56 food items.

This particular Puja is very important puja in the northern states of India, such as Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Bihar, and pilgrims head to the Govardhan hill to offer food as a symbol of gratitude towards Lord Krishna.

As Lord Krishna is also there to give us blessings and protections and on the this Puja devotes actually marks their gratitude and thanks to Lord Krishna because of their massive love towards us.

The amazing of this narration is that Krishna continued holding the mountain for seven days as the torrential rain was falling consecutively and Lord Krishna did this to saves the population of the Village.

It was only then that Lord Indra’s wrath subsided.
