The festival also marks the victory of Goddess Durga over the buffalo demon Mahishasura. As per the Hindu mythology, Mahishasura once pleased with Lord Brahma with his tough penance and asked him to grant the blessings and boon of immortality.
The Lord Brahma granted him the wish but said that in his destiny he will be dying in the hands of a woman.
The demon laughed with this declaration of the Lord Brahma and he started wreaking havoc on earth. Because of the Mahishasura, and his unbearable tortured and atrocities to the world, the trinity Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva jointly created Goddess Shakti.
And then ultimately, the Goddess Durga, who is regarded as the epitome of power killed the demon, and save the life of all people on the earth.
Throughout Durga Puja, massive and enormous pandals are erected and the entire city in most of the states decorated to welcome the Goddess Shakti.
In North India, the festival is known as Navratri, and in this festival, all Bengali people meet and get the reunion with their friends, and family.
In the festival all Bengali people go for good food and good dress, From pandals serving regional cuisines to girls wearing sari with Bengali drape, the public actually, relishes and enjoy this 4 days long celebration.
