Diwali is now round the corner and people are gearing up for the celebrations. They are only going for the shopping for new clothes as well some spectacular things buy by which they can decorate the home.
Diwali is the five-day long carnival which begins on Dhanteras or Dhantrayodashi which actually ends on the Bhaiya Dooj day. Most Hindus begin the Chaturdashi day — also regarded as the Choti Diwali — with abhyang snan.
The following day came to be also known as Naraka Chaturdashi as per the Hindu mythology, on this day Kali and Krishna killed Narakasura on this day post his endless ill-treatment of women. Since it is the night before Diwali, so it is known as Choti Diwali.
It is believed that people, who perform Abhyang Snan by which taking the holy bath on this day. As per trust if people take shower on this day they can avoid going to narak or hell.
Til (sesame) oil should be used for ubtan or a special face mask will be applied during the holy bath. Because of this procedure, it is also known as Roop Chaturdashi and Roop Chaudas.
During the time abhyang snan coincides with Narak Chaturdashi and the day of Lakshmi Puja, as per the English calendar.
As per the Drikpanchang, at whatever time the Chaturdashi tithi prevails before sunrise and Amavasya tithi prevails after sunset then Narak Chaturdashi and Lakshmi Puja which come on the same.
Abhyang snan is always done during moon rise but before sunset at that hour when the Chaturdashi tithi prevails.

People light diyas and rejoices and celebrates the day with friends and family. Some also believe that shopping is auspicious on this day.
