The festival, Buddha Purnima, is all about the “Lord Buddha’s Birthday”, and the carnival, commemorates the birth, enlightenment (Buddhahood), and death (Parinirvāna) of Gautama Buddha in the Theravada or southern tradition.

On the Buddha Purnima, or on the Vesak Day, Buddhists all over the planet celebrate and memorialize events, which are based on the significance to Buddhists of all traditions, which include, the birth, and his enlightenment and good deeds.

Commemorating the festival, Vesak also means making special efforts which can bring merry and the happiness to the unfortunate like the aged, the handicapped and the sick.

We all celebrate the festival, Buddha Purnima, with massive zeal, and enthusiasms. The day is also regarded as very sacred and a very pious day.
