In spite the filmmakers taking all measures to make sure the smooth sailing for the movie, which is making this for the cop drama to even cross 20-crore mark in its first week.
The release of the movie was postponed not once but twice, to avoid a box office clash with the other movies like Akshay Kumar’s PadMan and Deepika Padukone’s “Padmaavat”.
The film was initially scheduled to hit theatres on the 26th January, but with Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed “Padmaavat” released on the same date, so Neeraj Pandey postponed released the movie.
So the movie Aiyaary hit theatres on the 9th February. The movie was eventually rescheduled after Akshay Kumar blocked the date for his film PadMan.
The movie was finally hit theatres on 16th February 2017.
Film critic Saibal Chatterjee in his review to NDTV, wrote: “Aiyaary wants to be a daring thriller that calls out smarmy politicians and arms dealers. But it only fires blanks. A below-par Sidharth Malhotra, playing a young, idealistic army officer who goes rogue in order to take on the establishment, does not help matters. His oh-so-cool demeanor is totally out of place in a world where danger is a constant.”
The film features Sidharth Malhotra, Manoj Bajpayee, Rakul Preet Singh, Anupam Kher, Naseeruddin Shah, Adil Hussain and Kumud Mishra in the lead roles.
